Mueller, Karen

Karen (Albertin) Mueller, age 68, passed away Monday, February 18 at the Sharon Richardson Hospice Center, Sheboygan Falls.

Karen was born November 22, 1944 to Oscar and LaVerne (Damrow) Albertin and was a 1963 graduate of Sheboygan South High School. On June 24, 1967 she married Glen A. Mueller at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sheboygan. She earned a B.S. degree in Education from UWM in 1967 that began a 30 year career teaching at Pigeon River School before retiring. She continued to volunteer at Pigeon River School for over 15 years after her retirement.

Karen volunteered regularly for the Sheboygan and Plymouth Chambers of Commerce, the medical staff at Road America, the Harmony Living Center, and at St. Paul's United Church of Christ. She was a member of the Friends of the Library and also delivered books to the homebound.

Karen was an avid baseball fan following the Milwaukee Brewers. Karen and Glen enjoyed gardening and sharing their bounties with family, friends, and neighbors. Karen took great pleasure being involved in the lives of her niece and nephew and their children. She was a long time caregiver for both an elderly aunt and, more recently, her mother who passed away last year. Karen will best be remembered as a very kind and generous person.

Karen is survived by her loving husband. Glen; her sister, Jane (Tom) Melchior of Shawano, her niece, Courtney (Dave) Watry and sons Kyle and Derek of Appleton; nephew, Ryan (Lisa) Melchior and sons John and David of Eden Prairie, MN; aunts; uncles; numerous cousins; many friends; and their best friends, Sheryl and Dick Jarosch of Plymouth.

The family wishes to thank Progressive Care Center for the wonderful care Karen received from them the last few months. Thanks also to Dr. Matthews, the radiation staff at St. Nicholas, and the Sharon S Richardson hospice for all their care. The family greatly appreciated the many visits and pastoral care from Rev. Jaberg of St. Paul's United Church of Christ.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ at a later date this spring. Karen was entombed at the Garden Terrace Mausoleum at Lutheran Cemetery with Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home helping the family with the arrangements. Memorials may be directed to: Bookworm Gardens and St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
