Mabel F. Ireland, 91 , of 1419 E. McKenzie Rd., Greenfield, IN, formerly of 2440 N. 25th Street, Sheboygan, WI, passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday morning, August 21, 2012.

Mabel was born on December 7, 1920, in Sheboygan, WI to Kurt and Elsie (Taubenheim) Spatzek. Mabel graduated from Trinity Lutheran Grade School and Sheboygan Central High School. Mabel was employed in the medical field prior to her marriage.

On December 28, 1946, Mabel was united in marriage to Walter J. Ireland of Kohler. They moved to Kohler after their marriage and were active members of Bethany Lutheran Church. Mabel taught Sunday School and participated in Altar Guild, Auxiliary and Choir. Mabel's husband "Butch" was very involved in politics and together participated in numerous functions.

Mabel and Butch traveled to their home in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, where they enjoyed getting away from the WI winters. They were married 63 years prior to Butch's death in 2010.

Mabel enjoyed playing cards, reading, sewing, cooking, bowling and traveling.

Mabel is survived by a daughter Sandra (George) Sherman of Greenfield, IN; four grandchildren, Heidi Tripp, Kelly (Larry) Hutson, Jessica Sherman and Kelly (Trent) Brown; and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Ireland Hutson, Christina Hutson and John Hutson.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2012 at Ballhorn Chapels. Rev. Robert W. Steele, Pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church, Kohler, will officiate. A time or visitation and support will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Kohler.

A memorial fund has been established in her name.
