Neal D. Roe, age 75, passed away August 14, 2012 at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. He was born June 21st, 1937 to Knud & Lorraine (LaValle) Roe. In addition to his loving wife Sandy (Roethel), he is survived by his 6 children; Tammy (Jeff) Kohlmann, Steve (Dawn) Roe, Tony (Jane) Roe, Nels "Chip" (Karen) Roe,Tara (Noel Robles) Roe and Christopher (Lisa Pearson) Roe. Neal is further survived by 11 grandchildren & 6 great-grandchildren, brothers Norman (Lillian) Roe, R Peter (Orma Jean) Roe, Svend Roe, sister Melanie (Rick) Nick and brother-in-law Kim Zabel, as well as many nieces, nephews & friends.
Neal will be most fondly remembered for his love of nature, animals, and the outdoors. As a young man he raised animals on the family farm and was especially fond of his horses, rabbits and chickens. He enjoyed summers on his grandparents farm in northern Wisconsin where he learned carpentry skills from his grandfather. He used these abilities throughout his life, building two homes and sharing in the construction of his final home in his beloved "Northwoods" of Wisconsin where he retired to enjoy spending more time hunting, fishing, landscaping and camping. At the age of 14, Neal began working at Wald-Heim Nurseries, where he later became owner/operator of the business. In his pre-retirement years, he worked for Kohler Landscaping, and Heritage (Acuity) Insurance.
Neal is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Janet (Schneider), daughter Julie, sisters Jeanne Roe and Ruth Zabel, and his very special pet Chi Chi "Spucher".
Family and friends may call at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home (Novak-Ramm-Ziegler) 1535 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan on Friday from 4-7 P.M. Funeral service will be held 7 P.M. Friday at the funeral home with Deacon Rich Gulig officiating. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Neal's name.
