Robert Francis Gahagan
Robert "Bob" Francis Gahagan, age 73, of Sheboygan, passed away and found peace on July 29, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Glenbuelah on December 14, 1939, the son of the late Francis J. and Beatrice A. Kind Gahagan.
Bob grew up on a farm in the rural Sheboygan Falls area, graduating from Sheboygan Falls High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1957 and received his honorable discharge in San Diego, CA in 1959. Bob was united in marriage to Brigitte Schelzke in Sheboygan.
He took great pride in his work, ending his career with Derus Pattern & Castings Foundry, retiring in 2003. Family was important to Bob, he cherished every moment with them. Some of the other things that he enjoyed were watching westerns, Elvis Presley music, and was particularly an avid fan of Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Brigitte; his seven children, James Wolf, Bruce (Bonnie) Wolf, Karen (Mike) Mertes, Dawn (Jeffrey) Damrow, Bobbi Jo (Kevin) Cini, Patricia Joy Gahagan, Peter (Sara) Gahagan. Bob is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; his brothers, Donald (Carol) Gahagan, Charles Gahagan; his sisters, Margaret (Gordon) Trimberger, Kathleen Balcom and Mary (Melvin) Ploeckelman. He is further survived by twenty-four nieces and nephews, other relatives, family friend, Valerie Thalacker and his close friends, Louis and Ruth Boeldt. Preceding Bob in death were his parents, brothers, Patrick Gahagan and Eugene (Yvette) Gahagan, a sister, Barbara (Hank) Fischer and sister-in-law, Ina Gahagan.
Funeral services for Bob will be held on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum Chapel at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6706 Superior Ave., Kohler. Deacon Michael Burch will be officiating. Family and friends may call at the chapel on Friday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m.
Bob's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, Dr. Beirsdorf and his staff for the compassion and care that was given to him.
