On April 30, 1946, he was united in marriage to Lorena Agnes Dohr at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hilbert, WI. They were married for 62 years before Lorena preceded him in death on July 21, 2008.

He was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls. He enjoyed going to McDonalds, visiting with friends and doing scratch off lottery tickets. Besides spending time with his family, one of his greatest joys was sitting out in the garage watching people pass by.
