LaVerne A. Rewer
LaVerne A. Rewer, age 95, of Sheboygan, died on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home. She was born in Sheboygan on April 25, 1918, the daughter of the late Albert and Auguste Kroll Lienau.
She attended Sheridan Grade School, Farnsworth Junior High School and Sheboygan Vocational School. On May 9, 1936 LaVerne was united in marriage to Harvey F. Rewer in Sheboygan. Harvey preceded her in death in 1965. LaVerne was a homemaker and also worked as a sales clerk for F.W. Woolworth and retired from G.C. Murphy Company. LaVerne was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church prior to her membership at The Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bingo, music and spending time with family.
Survivors include her two daughters, Jo (Curt) Fruechte, of Prescott, AZ, Crystal (Roger) Meulbroek, of Oostburg; four grandchildren, Jodi Johns, Brian (Kim) Meulbroek, David (Vicki) Meulbroek, Dawn (Craig) Braun; ten great-grandchildren, Chad, Holly, Kayla (fiancé Jon), Andrew, Katelyn, Peter, Jacob, Joshua (fiancée Colleen), Chelsea, Marshall and her sister, Adeline (Herb) Stapelkamp. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her son and daughter-in-law Harvey E. (Mary Kay) Rewer, a daughter Shirley Rewer, a brother, Harvey (Erna) Lienau, her two sisters, Mildred (Fred) Engel, Gladys Lienau and two infant brothers.
A memorial service for LaVerne will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan with Rev. Bryan Osladil, officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service at 2:00 P.M. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in LaVerne's name and may be directed to The Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer and the Sunny Ridge activity department.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff at Sunny Ridge for the compassion and care that was given to her and also to Rev. Bryan R. Osladil.
