Anthony K. Nielson Jr., age 55, died on April 28, 2014, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born January 3, 1959 to the late Anthony and Anna (Shampagne) Nielson in Sheboygan. He was united in marriage to Mary F. Runtas on August 8, 1992 in Milwaukee. Anthony served in the U.S. Navy, where he graduated from Electronics Technician School. He graduated from several other electronics and computer related schools in the U.S. Navy, and became a highly specialized technician. He held a Top Secret clearance, was awarded the good conduct medal and was honorably discharged in 1980. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Anthony returned to his home town of Sheboygan, where he attended night school, obtaining a G.E.D from the state of Wisconsin. He then continued on to college to pursue degrees in computer science and electrical engineering. In 1990 Anthony moved to Milwaukee. From 1990 – 1992 Anthony worked for Astronautics Corporation of America, where he programmed and worked on electronic component testers, inventing a device to make connecting of components to testers more efficient. Then in 1993 Anthony decided to start his own computer sales and service business, which led to his starting and co-founding AKN Internet PLC in 1996, a successful Internet web hosting business until 2009. In 2010 Anthony moved to Appleton. Being self-employed and able to work from home, Anthony was also able to be a stay-at-home dad for his son, Anthony III. Anthony enjoyed computers, electronics, playing the organ, art, robotics (he always wanted to build a humanoid robot) and various other hobbies.

Anthony was always a positive thinking person (his glass was always half full), believed in "nothing ventured, nothing gained", was noted for his kindness to others and believed in family and religious values.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Anthony III, and brothers; William (Lori) and Robert (Debbie). He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Anthony (October 1984), as well as his mother Anna (November 2013).
Memorial services for Anthony will be held at 1:00PM, Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St. Appleton, with Rev. Mike Huff officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00PM until the time of service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sheboygan.
