Behr, Eugene W. (1921-2014)

Eugene W. Behr, age 92, of Glenbeulah, WI, passed away early Thursday afternoon, May 1, 2014 at the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice.

He was born on July 16, 1921, a son of the late George and Mabel (Schultz) Behr in the Town of Greenbush.

He attended Limekiln School in the Town of Rhine and graduated from there in 1935.

He served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre from 1942 - 1945.

On June 5, 1948, he married Dorothea Walczak. She preceded him in death in 1982.

He owned and operated the Behr Trucking Company in Glenbeulah from 1960 until retiring in 1983. He also worked for the Kohler Company, Knowles Manufacturing, Milton Meyer Pontiac, Clevepak, in Plymouth. He also worked for Prange Way in Plymouth for 5 years after his retirement.

He was a former member of the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah VFW Post #6973 since 1945 and is a current member of the Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post #5612.

Survivors include his beloved: Louise Krueger of Glenbeulah; two daughters: Hedy Cheney of Sheboygan, WI and Eugenia Michalski of Sheboygan, WI; four grandchildren: Phillip Cheney, Samantha Cheney, Jenny (Marc) Rohde and Christina Michalski; seven great grandchildren and one sister: LaVerna Fritz of Plymouth, WI.

Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Gilbert and Ervin Behr.

Following Eugene's wishes, cremation has taken place and a time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held from 4-6 P.M. on Tuesday (May 6th) at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth followed by military rites for Eugene by the Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post #5612 at 6:00 P.M. Inurnment will be in the Greenbush Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Eugene's name.

Gravesite service will be held on Wednesday (May 7th) at 10:00 A.M. at the Greenbush Cemetery.
