Roger C. Spindler, 71, of 139 Gebhart Ave., Kiel, formerly of Elkhart Lake died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 17, 2014.

He was born September 18, 1942 in Sheboygan, son of the late Willard & Beatrice (Brandt) Spindler.

Roger attended Washington Grade School in Ada and was a 1960 graduate of Kiel High School. He also attended Lakeland College and UW Oshkosh.

On July 23, 1966 he married the love of his life, Mary Lou Kuhn at St. George Catholic Church, Elkhart Lake.

Roger worked for more than 42 years at Stoelting LLC, Kiel.

He was a member of the Elkhart Lake Fire Department for 12 1/2 years, a member of the Elkhart Lake Village Board for 32 years as well as President of the Village of Elkhart Lake for 10 years. He also was a former member of the Kiel Municipal Band.

Roger was a "people person" who enjoyed his time helping out at the Sheboygan County Fair for 25 years and also Road America for 15 years.

He enjoyed watching any Wisconsin sports teams, including the Packers, Brewers, Badgers and Marquette teams and was an avid Nascar race fan.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Lou of Kiel, children; Ross Spindler, Wood Dale, IL, Brian (Yvonne) Spindler, Kiel, Christine (Joel) Jurss, Muskego and Scott Spindler, Elkhart Lake. He is further survived by five grandchildren; Brandon & Kaitlin Spindler, Jordan Hefter, Lauren, Thea & AJ Jurss, father-in-law, Elmer Kuhn, sisters-in-law, Jean (Andrew) Wondra, Plymouth, Marjorie (Marlow) Schubert, Elkhart Lake, one aunt, Beatrice Spindler, Boynton Beach, FL, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, Russell, mother-in-law, Mildred Kuhn and brother-in-law, Richard (Judy) Kuhn.

According to Rogers wishes, private family services will be held. Inurnment will take place at Garden of Peace Mausoleum, Kohler.
