Kuhn, Elmer P. (1921-2014)

Elmer P. Kuhn, age 93, of Elkhart Lake passed away late Tuesday evening (June 24, 2014) at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility.

Elmer was born on April 14, 1921 on the Kuhn Homestead in the Town of Rhine a son of the late Otto and Meta Kraemer Kuhn.

He attended the Lime Kiln Grade school in the Town of Rhine.

On July 18, 1942, Elmer married Mildred A. Bunge at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel.

In his younger days, he worked his way across the United States shucking grain and picking peaches

in California. After his marriage, he worked at S & R Cheese Company in Plymouth for .60 cents an hour, Crystal Lake Sand and Gravel, Road America at Turn # 5 replacing hay bales and hauled cattle to the Milwaukee Stock yards for 27 years.

The couple resided and operated the family farm following their marriage. Mildred preceded him in death on May 30, 2008.

Elmer was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church (formerly St. George Catholic Church) in Elkhart Lake where he served on the Church Council for many years. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council # 1789 in Plymouth. He also served on the Elkhart Lake School Board and was a former member of the Elkhart Lake Lions Club.

He enjoyed fishing of all types from sturgeon to perch, trapping, hunting, playing cards, raising any kind of crops and gardening and cherished spending those special moments with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by three daughters: Jean (Andrew) Wondra of Plymouth, Mary Lou Spindler of Kiel and Marjorie (Marlow) Schubert of Elkhart Lake; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and one on the way; one sister: Viola Feldmann of Elkhart Lake and wo sisters-in-law: Ms. Lucille Bunge of New Holstein and Sister Rosita Bunge of Silver Lake College of Manitowoc.

He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Elmer was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years: Mildred; one son: Richard and his wife Judy; one-in-law: Roger Spindler; one brother: Lester Kuhn and his wife: Marie; and one brother-in-law: LeRoy Feldmann.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday morning (June 28) at 11:30 A.M. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake. Father Dan Volkert, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Thomas Aquinas North Cemetery, Elkhart Lake.

Friends may call at the Resurrection Chapel at the CHURCH on Saturday morning from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Elmer's name. "The World Keeps On"
