Fuhrmann, Lyle J.

Lyle J. Fuhrmann, 92, of Mount Calvary, formerly of Marytown and Kiel, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home. He was born September 10, 1921, in Marytown, to the late Henry and Anna (Nett) Fuhrmann. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from where he was awarded a purple heart. On May 28, 1946, he married Monica Schneider at St Mary's Catholic Church Marytown.

Lyle owned Marytown Meat Market for many years. He was a member of St. Mary's, Marytown. He also was a member of the New Holstein American Legion Post 124, the Catholic Knights and the Marytown Veteran's Club. He loved sports, especially baseball, bowling and football. He was a long time coach of the Marytown Little League. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. He sang in the church choir and as a member of the Bashful Four, with whom he played the harmonica and guitar.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Mary Steele and friend Bob Maynard; Joan Wagner and Lois Fuhrmann and her husband, Don Lampien; four grandchildren, Nathan (Nicole) Steele and Brian Steele; Stephanie (Bart) Gurgel and Jackie Wagner; great grandchild Baby Gurgel to be born in December. He is further survived by a sister Rose Ann Werdeo; sister-in-law Ruby Schneider and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Monica, two brothers, Clifford and Eugene, and one sister, Anita; a son-in-law Gary Steele; brothers-in-law; and sisters-in-law.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday July 7, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church N10232 County Road G New Holstein, WI 53061 (Marytown). The Rev. Joseph Coerber, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at the parish cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the New Holstein American Legion Post 124.

Visitation: Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue New Holstein, WI 53061 on Sunday July 6th from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and at St. Mary's Church in Marytown Monday morning, July 7th, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM.

Memorials in Lyle's name may be directed for Cristo Rey Ranch at the Villas of the Holyland Mount Calvary, WI; the Marytown Veterans Club or the .
