Hansman, Dr. Willard A.

Dr. Willard A Hansman 'Doc' died at the age of 91 in hospice care at Lakeview Estates in Fond du Lac on July 9, 2014.

He was born in Howards Grove on February 10, 1923, and grew up on the family homestead farm south of Cedar Lake. He graduated from Kiel High School in 1940 and from Marquette Dental School in 1946. He served stateside in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a Captain in the Army Dental Corp during the Korean War. Returning to civilian practice, Dr. Hansman established the Mt. Calvary Medical Center with the late Dr Joseph Miller.

On June 28, 1947, Dr. Hansman married the former Mirtha A. Heuer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Howards Grove. Dr. and Mrs. Hansman lived in St. Cloud for 65 years and were members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Town Forest.

Dr. Hansman is survived by the couple's five children: Eileen (Harvey) Daun of rural Chilton; Charles (Eileen Kennedy) Hansmann of Sea Cliff, New York; Kay (Ron) Neitzel of rural Fond du Lac; Jerry (Betty) Hansman of rural Fond du Lac; and Wendy (Mike) Brunker of rural Cross Plains.

Other survivors include four grandchildren: Angela Gile, Grant Hansman, Marcy Neitzel, and Heidi Neitzel; a great granddaughter, Mallorie Gile; his three brothers: Monroe (Kathryn) Hansmann, Elroy (Audrey) Hansman, and Walter (Carol) Hansmann; a sister-in-law, Lynn (Allen) Kraemer; two brothers-in-law, Richard Kuether and Lloyd Jaeger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dr. Hansman was preceded in death by his wife, Mirtha, and a grandson, Brian Neitzel. Also preceding him in death were his parents, Walter and Edna Hansmann; his wife's parents, Arthur and Erna Heuer; two sisters-in-law, Benita Bitter and Elaine Kuether; a brother-in-law, Harold Bitter; his paternal grandparents, Christian and Helena Hansmann; and his maternal grandparents, Frank and Lillie Barts.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, W2090 State Hwy 23, Mt. Calvary, the Reverend Mark Barenz officiating, with burial to follow at Rienzi Cemetery in Fond du Lac.

Visitation will be at the Sippel Funeral Home, 1311 Thorp Street, St. Cloud, on Monday, July 14, 2014, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Tuesday, July 15, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
