The world lost one of the truly "good guys" as Joseph Jackson (Jack) Nohl, 86, died peacefully Friday morning, August 15 at Sheboygan Senior Community where he lived for seven years. Jack was born September 26, 1927 in Sheboygan, a son of the late Norman and Irma (Jackson) Nohl. He graduated from Sheboygan North High and served in the Army from 1946-47. He and his brother, Lamar, ran a number of good old fashioned restaurants, including the "Fifth Wheel" and "Lamar's Lunch". These were the kind of places in which you could get a great breakfast or a Sheboygan brat and Jack would never forget how you liked your meat cooked. Jack retired from the Post Office in 1988 after 30 years of employment. Jack was a very warm-hearted man who enjoyed a good joke and a very dry martini. People were drawn to him because he was always made you feel welcomed whether you were enjoying a swim and a "fry out" in the Nohl backyard, shopping at the St. Vincent de Paul Store, which Jack ran for many years or running into Jack at St. Dominic's, where he offered many, many years of service. He was devoted to his community, his church, and his family and loved nothing more than to share a laugh with you. We will miss those twinkling eyes, Jack and your easy going manner. Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife and best friend of 58 years, Mildred (Kober) Nohl. He is survived by his five children, Susan (George) Oppong of Los Angeles, CA, Christine (Dennis) LeRoy of Woodhaven, MI, Dan (Anne) Nohl of Nashville, TN, Randy Nohl (Laura Leonard) of Wauwatosa and Kay (Bob) Brunette of Sheboygan; eleven grandchildren Erica (Brian) Neilitz, Jessica (Jeremy) Otte, Becky (Mike) TenHaken, Joe (Jesse) Brunette, Angela (Chris) Batterman, Dr. Jacquelyn (Michael) Kuzminski, MaryJo (Kevin) Kruse, Denise (Steve) Ray, Sarah Ross (Mark Batson), Jordan Henkel and Adam Henkel and 17 great grandchildren. Jack is also survived by his sister Marion Vollbrecht; brothers Lamar Nohl, William (Janet) Nohl, Robert (Cynthia) Nohl; sisters-in-law Dorothy Nohl, MaryAnne (Roger) Brandenburg; brother-in-law Art (Jeanette) Kober. Jack was also preceded in death by his brother Norman.
