Donald "Butch" F. Kersten, 70, of Sheboygan, WI, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 13, 2012 at St. Nicholas Hospital. Donald was born October 18, 1941 in Sheboygan to the late Herman and Sylvia (Taubenheim) Kersten. He attended Public Schools and joined the U.S. Navy. He proudly served on the USS Cromwell from 1958 to 1962. Donald worked at Garton Toy, then Kohler Co. from 1972, retiring in 2003. On January 22, 1966, he married Janice S. Champeau.
Donald is survived by his wife, Janice; son Kevin (Lisa) Kersten, Sheboygan; daughter, Kareen Kersten (Matthew Buhk), Sheboygan Falls; brother, Kenny (Mary) Kersten of Malone, WI; grandchildren, Stephanie, Samantha, Kever Kersten and Marcelo Lopez, aunt Dorothy Regutis of Sheboygan; his K-9 girls, Tootsie and Kyanne. He is further survived by other relatives, family and friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Sylvia Kersten; daughter, Kelly Kersten; brother, Roger; three brothers-in-law, George, Dick and Ralph.
Close family and friends may call at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, (Novak-Ramm-Ziegler) 1535 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan on Sunday from 1-2 p.m. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Gregory Whelton officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by VFW Post #9156 immediately following the service at the funeral home.
