Klauck, Jacob "Jack'

RAPID CITY - Jacob "Jack" Thomas Klauck, 81, died Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Clarkson Health Care in Rapid City, after a lengthy illness.

Jack was born on March 19, 1931, in Kohler, Wisconsin, to Catherine and Jacob Klauck. Jack and his twin sister Joan were the youngest of five children. In 1953, Jack earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Norbert's College in West De Pere, Wisconsin. He married Mary Reiss on November 28, 1953, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and they made their home in Littleton, Colorado. During their time in Colorado, Jack earned a Master's Degree in Secondary Education and Juris Doctorate, both from the University of Denver. Soon after receiving his law degree, Jack and Mary and their children moved to Rapid City, where Jack taught real estate, law and tax classes at the National College of Business. Jack served as Pennington County States Attorney from 1969 through 1978. He maintained a private law practice prior to being appointed Magistrate Court Judge for the 7th Judicial Circuit, serving in that capacity for 15 years.

Jack was an avid reader with great interest in sports, politics and history. He spent his retirement years traveling with Mary, visiting their children and grandchildren located throughout the country, playing many rounds of golf with his friends at Meadowbrook golf course, and rooting for his beloved Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs. Jack and Mary recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.

Jack is survived by his wife Mary, Rapid City; his seven children, John (Charis) Klauck, San Antonio, TX; Mary (Dan) Rule, Green Valley, AZ; Pete (Patty) Klauck, Broomfield, CO; Father Michael Klauck, Grant, AL; Tim (Kay) Klauck, Grapevine, TX; Martha "Marty" (Duke) Paluch, Superior, CO; Joan (Karl) Adam, Pierre, SD; 18 grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Kreitz, Julie (Ed) Stanpanon, and Jill (Mike) Pierce; Eric Rogers and Jeff (Jen) Rogers; Peter, Jake and Annie Klauck; Mary, Therese, and Catherine Klauck; Matt and Thomas Paluch; Katherine, Conrad, Jack, Phillip and Paul Adam, and two great-grandchildren, John and William Kreitz. Jack is also survived by two sisters and one brother, Phyllis Berger, Pat Klauck, and Father Stan Klauck, all of Wisconsin.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his twin sister, Joan Schroeder.

Visitation with family present will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2013, with a Christian Wake and Rosary starting at 5:30 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church in Rapid City.

Christian Burial Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at the Church with Jack's son, Fr. Michael Klauck presiding.

Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City.
