Edna (nee Karle) Schmidt

Edna Schmidt, 83, went to her heavenly home surrounded by all of her children at Aurora Memorial Medical Center on Monday, January 28, 2013.

She was born June 30, 1929 in Sheboygan to Michael and Elizbeth (Leonhardt) Karle.

She was a graduate of Sheboygan Central High School, class of 1947 and worked at H.C. Prange Company until her retirement. On May 19, 1951 Harvey C. Schmidt and Edna Karle were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death in 1998 after 46 years of marriage. Edna enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards, golfing, bowling, and fishing. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan and had been a member of the choir.

Edna is survived by six children, Linda Bolgert of Sheboygan, Carol (Michael) Lutz of Middleton, Deborah (Mike) Nawikas of Sheboygan, Diane (Will) Babbitt of Kansas City, Missouri, Steven (Pat) Schmidt of Sheboygan, and John (Tami) Schmidt of Waunakee; eighteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, Sarah (special friend Matt) Bolgert, Stacy (Greg) Fernandez and Aaliyah, Julie (Ben) Pulley and Lydia and Abigail; Kristie (special friend Scott) Lutz, Justin Lutz; Amy de Leon, Melissa (Chuck) Aprahamian and Carter, Audrey, and Evelyn, Angela (Brett) Belden, Becca (Adam) Thomas and Brennan, Quinn, and Vann, Joe (Suzie) Nawikas; Tracie (special friend Chris) Babbitt and Michael Babbitt; Nicole (Kevin) Sargent and Trevor, Natalie, and Carly, Ryan (Anna) Schmidt and Ava and Nora, Holly (Ryan) Keenan and 15th great-grandchild due in March, Curt (special friend Chae) Schmidt; Aaron Schmidt and Zachary Schmidt; and many relatives and friends.

She is also survived by two brothers and one sister: Marvin (Donna) Karle, Deloris Karle, and Richard (Carol) Karle; one sister-in-law, Marion Korff; and a close cousin, Doris Kettler.

In addition to her parents and husband, Harvey, she was preceded in death by her sister, Irma Zastrow and in-laws, William (Agnes) Schmidt, Walter (Alberta) Schmidt, Arthur Korff, and Ruth (Marvin) Korff.

A time of visitation and support will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Ballhorn Chapels.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Timothy J. Mech will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held on Friday from 10:00am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery.
