Mrs. Dolores Schmidt, of Cedar Grove Gardens, formerly of Lake Church, passed away at her residence early Monday morning, March 25, 2013. She was 85 years old. Dolores was born in Dacada, on October 8, 1927, daughter of Joseph " JP" and Helen Laures Feider. She attended local schools, and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Milwaukee with the Class of 1945. On June 29, 1946, Dolores was united in marriage with Oscar Schmidt at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada. The couple settled in the town of Belgium and raised their family. Oscar preceded her in death in 2006. Mrs. Schmidt worked as a seamstress from her home, creating bridal and bridesmaid gowns for more than 20 years. She was a member of Divine Savior Parish, where she was also a member of the Christian Women. Dolores loved creating with fabric, whether it was making dresses or quilts. She enjoyed antiquing and refinishing furniture, collecting angels, reading, had recently become a baseball fan and was a Fashion Diva to the end! Dolores' family was very important to her and she truly loved spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Schmidt is survived by two daughters, Linda (Richard) Rose of Cedar Grove; and Patricia (Jerry) Moriarity of Glenbeulah; two daughters-in-law, Kathy Schmidt and Debra Schmidt, both of Cedar Grove, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by 3 brothers, Anthony (Loretta) Feider of Sheboygan; Francis (Sharon) Feider of Elkhart Lake;and James Feider of Dacada; 3 sisters, Helen Schultz of Mequon; Margaret Mueller of Newton; and Mary Ann (Joseph) Kirklewski of Grafton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Oscar and their two sons, Jack and James Schmidt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, at Divine Savior, St. Mary Chapel in Lake Church. Father James Ernster, Father Jim Vojtik and Father Dennis Van Beek will preside. Dolores will be laid to rest beside her husband in St. Mary Parish Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Tuesday (TODAY) from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave. in Belgium, followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m., and again on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at CHURCH. Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com
