Kenneth R. Bedker Obituary
Kenneth Richard Bedker

Kenneth Richard Bedker, age 85, of Plymouth went to his heavenly home on April 16, 2013. He was the fourth of six children born to Oscar and Helen (Opitz) Bedker on December 18, 1927 in Beaver Dam.

Following in the footsteps of his brothers Robert and Miles, Ken joined the US Air Force during WWII but was sent home when the commanding officer found out that he was only 16 years old. He was later drafted into the US Army and served in the 398th Engineering Battalion from 1946-1947.

On November 15, 1947, shortly after being discharged, Ken married Darlyene Borgen in a private ceremony in Menomonee, MI. Following their marriage the couple lived in the Madison area where he worked for several car dealerships, in construction and as a foreman for Badger Feeds. In 1960 he and Darlyene bought a wholesale feed company they named B-C Feeds that they ran for the next 40 years.

Ken served on the Town of Burke planning commission for seven years, as a town supervisor for eight years and on the sewer and cemetery committees. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, bowling and playing cards.

He was a loving father to Mark, of DeForest, and Joy, of Windsor. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren - Tony, Raeane and Matthew - who held a very special place in his heart. He is survived by them all.

Ken is further survived by his sister, Lea (Bedker) Merrill, sister-in-law Lois Bedker, and brothers-in-law Ted Borgen, Dale (Diane) Borgen, and Tom (Mary) Borgen. He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 65 years whom he adored, his parents, brothers Robert, Miles and John, and sister Ruth (Bedker) Wimmer.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church in Elkhart Lake, WI from 10:00-11:00 AM. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM and there will be a private interment at Estabrooks Cemetery in Fond du Lac later this spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church or the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
