Stevens, Lillian

Lillian Stevens, age 82, of Sheboygan, died on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. She was born in Sheboygan on September 4, 1930, daughter of the late William and Catherine Schaefer Dortman. Lillian was baptized and attended Trinity School and was confirmed in 1942.

She graduated from Central High School in 1948. Lillian was united in marriage to Richard Stevens on December 18, 1948 at Trinity Parsonage. Lillian worked at various places until her retirement from American Excelsior in October of 1995. In 1996 she started volunteer work as a classroom grandma at Jackson School. In 1999 she was nominated volunteer of the year by the Sheboygan School District. In 2004 she joined the Foster Grandparent Program, working with children at Jackson and has been with the program since.

Lillian kept busy working with children, reading, knitting, sewing, doing needle work, quilting and working on her computer.

Survivors include her four children, Bernice Claerbout, Brian(Donna) Stevens, Randall Stevens, Debra(Shawn) Speckman; a son-in-law, Richard Meyer; six grandchildren, Michelle(Paul) Demler, Mitchell Lammers, Aaron(Jessica) Meyer, Randall(Megan) Stevens Jr., Heather Stevens(fiancé, Larry Wendland), Joshua Stevens; seven great-grandchildren, two step grandchildren, Stacy(Mike) Humprey, Tammy(Dave) Mihm, and five step great-grandchildren. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Richard Jr., a daughter, Judith Meyer, four sisters, two brothers and her two sisters-in-law.

A memorial service for Lillian will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 4:00 p.m at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan with Pastor Elizabeth Jager, officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:30 P.M until the time of service at 4:00 P.M. Entombment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Lillian's family would like to thank Dr. Phillip's staff at the Aurora Sheboygan Clinic and Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center for the compassion and care that she was given.
