Hering, Roger G.

Roger G. Hering, of Sheboygan, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. He was born in Sheboygan on April 15, 1933, the son of the late Gustav and Helen Kalau Hering.

Roger attended Trinity Lutheran School, Sheboygan Central High School and Valparaiso University before joining the U.S. Navy. He served his country as a dental assistant during the Korean War from 1952 until his discharge in 1956. On April 7, 1956 Roger was united in marriage to Joan Worscheck at First Presbyterian Church in Sheboygan.

He was employed at Firestone for many years and then worked for the Jim Mech Agency, before retiring in 1990. In retirement Roger spent a lot of time on his computer and various other electronic gadgets. Roger and Joan were members of Our Savior Lutheran Church since 1973, where he had served as an elder and an usher.

Survivors include his loving wife, Joan, of Sheboygan; three children, Rev. Kurt M.(Donna) Hering, of Utah, Wendy J.(David) Yurk, of Greenbush and Thomas J.(Ann) Hering, of Plymouth; eight grandchildren, Philip, Kevin and Luke Hering, Alan(Jodi) Yurk, Bradley(Mica) Yurk, Tyler, Kalei and Sawyer Hering; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Lee Hering, of Appleton; a sister, Joyce(Dr. Fred J.) Born, of Fond du Lac and two brothers-in-law, Gene Worscheck, of San Diego and Robert(Shirley) Hauch, of Sheboygan. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Eda and Norbert Mueller, brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Ester Louise Hering, Arthur and Arline Hering, Carol Hering and Jan Worscheck, and a niece and a nephew.

In accordance to Roger's wishes a private service has been held.
