Winter, Amos A. (1919 - 2013)

Amos A. Winter, age 93, formerly of Hwy I, Random Lake passed away Monday afternoon (June 24) at Gables on the Pond in Random Lake where he had been a resident for the past 7 months.

He was born on August 31, 1919 in Random Lake (Town of Sherman), WI; a son of the late Fred and Ella Haas Winter.

He attended St. John Lutheran School in Sherman Center and attended Random Lake High School.

Amos served in the U. S. Army Medical Corp from 1942-1945 serving in the European Theatre (Africa, England, and Europe) during World War II.

He was employed in Milwaukee at the Allis Chalmers Company; A. O. Smith Company; and retired in 1982, from Schlitz Brewery Company, after 35 years.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sherman Center where he was a Trustee for two terms and also attended morning Bible Class.

Amos enjoyed hunting, fishing (especially in Alaska) and traveling.

Survivors include his brother: Walter Winter of Random Lake, One sister-in-law: Doris Winter of Sheboygan, Nieces and Nephews: Neal Winter of Anchorage, Alaska, David (Sue) Winter of Hubertus, WI , Sue (Bill) Templeman of Shawano, WI , Barbara Winter of West Bend, WI .

Amos is also survived by cousins, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Edgar, Wilbert and Paul; two sisters, Nelda and Helen Winter; and two nephews: Eldred and Kenneth Winter.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday afternoon (June 28) at 1:00 P.M. at St. John Lutheran Church in Sherman Center. Rev. Randal Schoemann, Pastor of the church will officiate. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the CHURCH on Friday morning from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services.

Military rites will be conducted at the gravesite by the Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post #5612 after the services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Amos's name for the Church's Debt Retirement Fund.
