Dr. Herbert E. Cone D.D.S., 93, of Sheboygan passed away Monday, December 23, 2013 at Meadow View Manor following a brief illness.
Herb was born July 7, 1920 in Sheboygan to Everett and Emma (Goedecke) Cone.
He graduated from Central High School in Sheboygan and attended Lakeland College, Ohio State University, and Marquette University Dental School, graduating in 1945.
After graduation Herbert served in the United States Navy, as a Lt. JG Dentist, serving in Japan immediately after World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he established a dental practice in Sheboygan and retired in 1982.
Herb married the love of his life, Catherine Bloom on April 15, 1950 in Sheboygan.
He was a member of the Sheboygan Outboard Club and the Sheboygan Power Squadron. Herb was one of the original founding members of the Sheboygan Flotilla 47-04 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and continued working with them for many years. He was very involved with the Sheboygan Senior Center and organized pool tournaments throughout the county. Together with Catherine, he worked and volunteered with St. Vincent de Paul.
In addition to his wife, Catherine, Herb is survived by his children, Dale (Judith) Cone of Cedarburg, WI, Terry (Lori) Cone of California; grandchildren, Tracy (Adam) Elder, Jenny (Jeff) Nies, and Taylor Cone all of California, Jonathan Cone of Cedarburg; great-grandchildren, Kalin and Gavin Elder and Jude Nies; and other family and friends.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Herbert's name at the Sheboygan Senior Center.
A memorial service will be held Monday, December 30, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Fr. Paul Fliss will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church from 1:00 pm until the time of service.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Meadow View Manor and the Staff of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their care and concern.
