Richard "Dick" Schoening

Richard "Dick" Schoening, age 71 of Sheboygan died Saturday May 24, 2014 at St. Nicholas Hospital. Dick was born April 1, 1943 in Sheboygan to the late Norbert and Wilma (Simmelink) Schoening. Dick married Helen Zylstra and she preceded him in death. He was then united in marriage to Patricia Richter on June 30, 1984 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler; they would have celebrated 30 years of marriage this year. He was a 1962 graduate of Sheboygan South High School. Dick proudly served his country in the US Army from 1966 - 1968 and then in the reserves until 1972. Dick worked at Vollrath for 43 years, retiring in 2005. Dick was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and past member of the Whitetails Bow Hunting Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.

Dick is survived by his loving wife Pat; children Kimberly Beers of Monroe City, MO, Michael Schoening of Sheboygan, Michael (Melissa) Ploeckelman of Sheboygan Falls, Timothy Ploeckelman of Manitowoc, Julie (Paul) Thiessen of Cadott; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is further survived by his brothers James (Jane) Schoening of Appleton, Kenneth (Patricia) Schoening of Plymouth; aunt Maude Simmelink of Sheboygan and several nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Helen and father-in-law and mother-in-law Harvey and Ruth Richter.

Family and friends may call at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan on Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 3:30 - 5:30 P.M. Memorial service will be held 5:30 Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Christian Gugel, pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, officiating. Full military honors accorded by VFW Post #9156 will follow the memorial service.

A memorial fund has been established in Dick's name.
