Lorraine Block

Lorraine Bertha Block, age 91, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan.

She was born on December 24, 1923 in Milwaukee daughter of the late Ben and Bertha (Moser) Vanderkin.

She attended Cascade Grade School and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1942. After graduation she worked at the Kohler Company in the brass aircraft department as an inspector.

On May 6, 1944 Lorraine Vanderkin and Jerome Block were united in marriage at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cascade by the Rev. John Boerger. She farmed alongside her husband in the Town of Lyndon throughout their marriage.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, a member of the Mission Circle, and the LWML.

She enjoyed time with her family, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, sewing, knitting caps for the mitten tree in church, crocheting, photography, genealogy, cake decorating, and reading. She enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada and many travels with the supercrost group to Hawaii, Switzerland, Spain, and other interesting places.

She is survived by one daughter; Carolyn (Mervin) Kitzerow of Cascade, a son; Gene (Barbara) Block of Cascade, nine grandchildren; Michael (Christine) Kitzerow-Jake (Jena), Kevin (special friend Kristina), Morgan and Anna, Tim (Sara) Block-Lilly and Jacob, Denise (Ed) Beck-Kimberly (special friend Jake), Jared and Logan, Todd (Nicole) Kitzerow-Cody and Ty. She is also survived by a sister-in-law; Ella Block of Hingham and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Wesley (Janet) Block of Fredonia.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years Jerome Block, a son Richard Block and fiancée Phyllis Arndt, a sister and brother-in-law Delores and Lloyd Model, a brother and sister-in-law Bill and Marion Vanderkin, and a brother-in-law Arlyn Block.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cascade with the Rev. Richard Bidinger officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery in Cascade. Friends may call at the Church on Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of service. Schneider Funeral Home & Life Tributes has been entrusted with the arrangements.
