To know him was to love him. I am not sure why he was "Pop" to me, but his daughter, Mary Sue, is my best friend and has been for 33 years.
Having been a family that transferred into Shelby, I have met quite a few folks in other towns. Pop was one of the most unique human beings I had ever loved. He loved unconditionally and would "brighten any corner where he might be." Pop always was interested in how my family was doing.
Yes, Shelby was so fortunate to have Pop and the joy he was to each life he touched. One just felt better after being in his presence.
Pop, I hope that you are dancing with my Mother. You promised her that you and she would "go dancing" on your 80th birthdays which were so close together.
My Mother left before the dance but I know that Pop is making everyone in Heaven feel better about themselves. That is just what he did. Pop, save me a dance and you have a place in my heart that no one could ever replace.
Pop's family is going to miss that “showering of love” that he rained upon them. I pray for God's peace and comfort for Pop's family. The love Pop gave to each one is going to leave such a void in their lives. I pray each family member can count their blessing by having been a recipient of Pop's precious love.
Pop, Thank you for being a friend to me; just not many like you on this earth. Love, "Duane"
