FOREST CITY-Ruth Goode Lane, 90, of Piney Ridge Road, Forest City, died on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at SECU Hospice House of Rutherford County.
A native of Rutherford County, she was born on Jan. 13, 1922, a daughter of the late Clarence E. Goode and Nora Hollifield Goode. She retired as a nurse from Winter Park Towers Retirement Home. She was a member of Race Path Baptist Church and a volunteer at the Rutherford County Senior Center and Seminole County Sheriffs Department.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Lane; two brothers, Jack Goode and John Goode; one sister, Myrtle Phillips; and one grandson, David Lail.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Lane of Forest City; three daughters, Jan Bennick of Ellenboro, Pat Lail of Mooresboro, and Judy York and husband Donald of Mooresboro; six grandchildren, Jamie Brown, Stacy Alexander, Timothy Lail, Angie Vinesett, Wetonna Dillon, and Kenny Lane; nine great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral Home
Funeral Service: 3 p.m. Sunday at Race Path Baptist Church
Officiated By: The Rev. Randall Cooper and The Rev. John Godfrey
Burial: Race Baptist Church Cemetery, following the service

I loved Cousin Ruth, and will always remember how she just never had anything but kind words to say about people. She wouldn't say anything negative about people or her church. She lived her faith. I loved her, and will miss her.
