GLADYS LIVERETT CLIFFSIDE- Gladys Byars Liverett, 81, of Liverett Trail, Cliffside, died on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at Forest City Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Cherokee County, South Carolina, she was born on May 11, 1933, a daughter of the late John A. and Allie Mae Campbell Byars. She was retired from Cone Mills Corporation - Cliffside Plant and also worked at Roses. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Henry Liverett; one brother, Joseph Byars. She is survived by her sons, David Liverett of Forest City, Ricky Liverett of Forest City, and Roger Liverett and wife Cathy of Cliffside; one daughter, Susan Short and husband John of Shelby; brothers, David Byars and wife Barbara of Cliffside, Don Byars and wife Debbie of Cliffside, Michael Byars and wife Debbie of Shelby; sisters, Mary Causby of Ellenboro, Louise Wilson and husband Perry of Forest City, Ruby Bridges and husband Howard of Sandy Mush, Martha Byars of Cliffside and Sandra Bailey and husband Wayne of Ellenboro; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at Victory Baptist Church, with the Rev. Johnny McCarty and Rev. Robert Toney officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements by McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service. Lysko, Anna Mangold* - Asheville  
ASHEVILLE – Anna Mangold Lysko (formerly of Shelby, NC) died Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living in Asheville, NC. She was 92 years old. Born on July 5, 1922, in Hickman, Ky., Anna was the daughter of the late George Bernard Mangold and Nell Wedding Mangold. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Elliot Lysko, and by a sister, Geneva Mangold of Hickman, Ky., and a brother, Christopher Mangold of Somerset, Ky. Anna was a graduate of Sacred Heart School and Hickman High School in Hickman, Ky. After her marriage she lived in Stoughton, Mass., and Brockton, Mass., and moved to Shelby, N.C., in 1957. Until her move to Asheville in 2011, Anna was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Cleveland Country Club in Shelby. She was an enthusiastic golfer and bridge player. Anna is survived by her two children, Carol Stephens (Courtney) of Greensboro, Ga., and Jane Isbey (Edward) of Asheville, N.C. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Alex Stephens (Melanie Coyne) of Charlotte, N.C.; Jonathan Stephens (Alicia) of Raleigh, N.C.; Elizabeth Isbey of Washington, D.C.; and Sarah Hassouni (Daniel) of Denver, Colo.; and two great-grandchildren, Court Stephens and Grant Stephens, of Raleigh, N.C. She is also survived by two brothers, George Mangold of Columbia, Tenn., and Charles Mangold (Mary) of Cordova, Tenn.; a sister, Charlotte Garrigan (Robert) of Hickman, Ky.; and many loving nieces, nephews, and in-laws, including Lee Lysko of Stoughton, Mass., and Lydia Burnett (Francis) of Daytona Beach, Fla. The family gives special thanks to the caring staff at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living and the staff of CarePartners Hospice, especially Midge and Darlene, who all lovingly tended to Anna during her final days. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral service: Will follow at the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. Officiated by: Deacon James Trombley of St. Mary's Catholic Church Burial: Cleveland Memorial Park immediately following the service. Funeral home: Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
