JAYONA SMITH ATLANTA, GA.-Jayona Smith, 6, passed away on Aug. 25, 2015, in Atlanta, Ga. She was born on Feb. 4, 2009, to Jasmine Hamrick of Atlanta, Ga. and Teyon Smith of Shelby. She is also survived by her grandparents, Dena Bennett of Atlanta, Ga., Johnnie Smith, Twlain Wilson and Tyrone Elmore. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Perfecting The Saints International, 1009 Highway 1941, Hampton, GA, 30228. Willie A. Stidham, T.J.* - Shelby  
T.J. STIDHAM SHELBY- T.J. Stidham, age 77, of Shelby, passed away Aug. 30, 2015, at Wendover Hospice. Born Sept. 22, 1937, in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late James Monroe Stidham and Rose Ruth Clark Stidham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shannon Richard; brothers, Morgan Stidham, Toby Stidham; sisters, Ovenia Stacey and Virginia Stidham. T.J. attended Souls Harbor Tabernacle in Ellenboro and was a United States Army veteran. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Ann Freshwater Stidham; daughters, Terry Uren (Jody) of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, Sue Dale (Garfield) of Casar; step-children, Billy Morris (Carissa) of Shelby, Barbara Nash (Todd) of Gastonia, Debbie Towery (Dixon) of Shelby; brothers, Johnny Stidham (Pat), Sam Stidham (Linda); grandchildren, Micah Uren, Monica Gabel; step-grandchildren, Tiffany Morris, Dusty Morris, Nikki Morris, Alena Towery, Faith Nash, Aaron Nash, Bethany Haley, Jessica Haley; great-grandchildren, Kylie Gable, Lexi Gabel, Zach Richard; and step-great-granddaughter, Ally Haley. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, at Cleveland Funeral Services. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, at Cleveland Funeral Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Chuck Poole. Interment will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. WANDA SARRATT WILMINGTON-Wanda Sue Sarratt, 62, of 4313 Cedar wood Lane Apt. D, Wilmington, N.C., passed away Aug. 9, 2015, at her residence. Born in Cleveland County, on Dec. 22, 1952, she was the daughter of the late J. L. and Lorene Sarratt. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m., in the sanctuary. Scism, Donny* - Waco  
DONNY SCISM WACO-Mr. Donny Reid Scism, 65, of S. Main St., passed away on Monday, Aug. 25, 2015, at Testa Family Hospice House in Kings Mountain. Donny was born in Cleveland County, N.C., on Feb. 24, 1950, a son of the late Ralph H. Scism and Dorothy "Dot" Turner Scism of Waco. He was retired from Telecommunications. Donny was a Christian and a member of The Way Ministry International and served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. Donny was preceded in death by his father and a nephew, Robbie Smith. Survivors include his mother, Dorothy "Dot" Turner Scism; a sister, Lynn Smith both of Waco; two brothers, Rusty Scism of Charlotte and Mike Scism and wife Wanda of Mt. Holly. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:45 until 2:45, on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home & Cremation Service, and at other times the family will be at the home. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home & Cremation Service, officiated by Dr. Harold Fite. Military Honors will be provided by Cherryville American Legion Post 100 Honor Guard. Burial will be Private. Southerland, Helen* - Shelby  
HELEN SOUTHERLAND SHELBY-Helen Euginia Southerland, age 66, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at her home. Born in Darlington County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Virginia Mae Yarborough. She was a seamstress by trade and after retiring she enjoyed Nascar, fishing, cooking and playing Bingo. Helen is survived by three daughters, Tina Weaver Gantt and husband Jerry of Shelby, Patti Carroll of Florida, and Pam Benson and husband Mike of Delaware; a son, Wallace Carroll Jr. and fiancée Tabetha Blanton of Shelby; three brothers, Paul Yarborough, James Yarborough, and Tommy Yarborough all of Rock Hill, S.C.; three sisters, Irene Rose, Suzy Queen, and Sandy Melton all of Rock Hill, S.C.; nine grandchildren, Chris Gantt, Robin Melton and husband Casey, Alexis Gantt, Matthew Gantt, Mackenzie Gantt, Scott Shepherd, Colby Carroll, Shelby Benson, and Katie Benson; six great grandchildren, Holden Melton, Nova Melton, Olivia Melton, Chloe Carroll, Madison Carroll and Braelyn Carroll; many friends at West Warren apartments, and her beloved pet, "Peanut".
