EVELYN WILLIS GROVER – Evelyn Sulser Willis, 77, of Grover, NC, went home to be with her heavenly family on Saturday, May 2, 2015, while at Kings Mountain Hospital. Born in Sylacauga, Alabama on April 19, 1938, she was preceded by her fathers, Roy Virgil Sulser who gave his life during WWII, Rufus Lee Nelson and mother Mattie Gertrude Barnes. She is survived by husband, Bill Willis of Grover; daughter, Patricia Faulkenberry and husband Roger of Kershaw, SC; son, Billy Willis of Roswell, GA; granddaughter, Melanie S. Broughton and husband Brian; grandson, Joshua Walden and wife Laine, both of Kershaw; great grandsons, who were the love of her life, Brody and Banks Broughton and Ryder Walden; sister, Joyce Maxfield and husband Ken of Collegedale, TN; brothers, Jimmy Sulser of Royal, IL and Bloyce Nelson and wife Nancy of Palm Coast, FL; many nieces, nephews; cousins and a loving church family. Miss Evelyn was a friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed meeting new faces and helping where ever she could. During her life in Grover she filled in as pianist at many local churches; helped publish "The Grover Rover," a local newsletter; was active in the Grover Woman's Club and loved mission work thru her WMU at church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2015, at White Columns Funeral Service, Blacksburg, SC. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Bethany Baptist Church, Grover, NC with burial at Grover Cemetery.

MARGARET WOOD SHELBY – Margaret Louise Whitaker Wood, 90, died Friday, May 1, 2015, at Kings Mountain Hospice. Born in Cleveland County, on Feb. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Jesse Ezell Whitaker. The family will receive friends following the service in the Ladies Parlor. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, May 3, 2015, in the Webb Chapel of First Baptist Church. Burial will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, May 4, 2015, at Cleveland Memorial Park. DEAN WARD LAWNDALE- Robert Dean Ward, 89, of 110 Lee St., in Lawndale, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015, at home. Born March 28, 1926, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Jesse Henry Ward and Liza Jane Jefferies Ward. He was retired from Cleveland Mills after fifty one years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Corene Morrison Ward; one son, Robert Lanny Ward; five brothers, Clyde Ward, Dale Ward, Gene Ward, Junior Ward, and Hugh Lee Ward; and two sisters, Mozelle Newton and Patsy Mooney. Survivors include one sister, Jesslyn Chandler of Lawndale, and friends, John Treat of Kansas and Faye Deviney of Lawndale. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m., Thursday, at Stamey Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, at Stamey Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center Chapel, with the Rev. Glenn Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park. OCIE WILKIE FOREST CITY- Ocie Bryson Wilkie, age 96, of Forest City, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Hospice House of Forest City. She was born Oct. 16, 1918, in Cullowhee, in Jackson County, North Carolina, and was a daughter of the late Robert Milton Bryson and Minnie Knight Bryson. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 p.m., Saturday, in the church sanctuary. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015, in the First Baptist Church. Wilson, Doris* - Efland  
DORIS WILSON EFLAND- Doris Curtis Wilson, age 80, of Efland, N.C., passed away Wednesday, at Alamance Regional Hospital in Burlington, N.C. She was born Aug. 18, 1934, in Rutherford County, to the late Earl Curtis and Jessie Beason Curtis. She worked with the Belk Company for many years in Shelby and in Forest City before moving to Durham, N.C. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Wilson Tyndall and husband Rommie Tyndall, also of Efland, and a grandson, Nicholas Tyndall of Durham. She is also survived by a sister, Jerry Spangler Camp of Ellenboro, N.C. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m., at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, at McKinney Landreth & Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service in Cliffside, N.C. Burial services will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park in Shelby. Wood, Margaret* - Shelby  
MARGARET WOOD SHELBY- Margaret Louise Whitaker Wood, age 90, died Friday, May 1, 2015, at Kings Mountain Hospice. Born in Cleveland County, on Feb. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Jesse Ezell Whitaker. Margaret was a member of First Baptist Church where she was in the Faith and Love Sunday school class, volunteered in the office, enjoyed traveling with the church, active in the Extension Club and formerly taught a children's Sunday school class. Margaret was member of the Cleveland County Extension Homemakers Club, the Chicora Book Club, volunteered for Hospice, and at the front desk at Cleveland Regional Medical center. She enjoyed crocheting and doing ceramics. Margaret's family was her number one priority and they brought her great joy. In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Wood; two brothers, Bruce Whitaker and Alvin Whitaker; two sisters, Jean Humphries and Mrytle Price; and a son-in-law, Kent Harmon. Margaret is survived by a son, Michael ""Mike"" Wood and wife Cynthia of Belwood; a daughter, Karen Wood Harmon of Wilmington; two sisters, Betty Davis and husband Max of York SC. and Elizabeth Jones of Ellenboro; a brother, John Whitaker and wife Patsy of Shelby; five grandchildren, Lauren Gainor and husband Andy, Michael Harmon, Lee Wood, Dustin Wood and wife Miranda, and Lindsey Wood; and four great grandchildren, Ben Gainor, Kate Gainor, Audrey Wood and Lucy Wood. The family would like to say thank you to Hospice and Carolinas Healthcare-Cleveland staff and a special Thank You to Carol and the staff of Carillon Assisted Living for the excellent care and support that they gave Margaret during her time with them. The family will receive friends following the service in the Ladies Parlor. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, May 3, 2015, in the Webb Chapel of First Baptist Church, with the Rev.
