Lail, Vertie* - Casar  
VERTIE LAIL Vertie Lail, 93, of Corinth Church Circle, Casar, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby. She was born in Cleveland County on April 22, 1922, to the late Clem Dixon Wortman and Thana Viller Wall Wortman. Mrs. Lail was retired after thirty years of service from Broughton Hospital as a supervisor in the Employee Dietary Department. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Lail; three brothers, Lloyd Wortman, J.P. Wortman, and Lawton Wortman; two sisters, Gladys Ledford and Pauline Earwood; and son-in-law, Keith Canipe. She is survived by her son, Harold Lail and wife Polly of Shelby; daughter, Linda Canipe of Shelby; sister, Muriel Southard and husband Paul Fulton; two grandchildren, Tommy Hunt and wife Karren of Shelby and Christy Cook and husband Dwight of Shelby; four great-grandchildren, Anna Labuanan and husband Keliko, Sarah Hunt, Isaac Cook and Andrew Cook; step great-grandchild, Brandy Cook; and great-great-grandchild, Isabella McDaniel. The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Monday at Casar United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Casar United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Lovelace officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. Ledbetter, William* - Kings Mountain  
WILLIAM LEDBETTER KINGS MOUNTAIN-William Dwight Ledbetter, 92, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015, at White Oak Manor of Kings Mountain. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Smith and Laura Gettys Ledbetter. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, proudly serving his country in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a Charter Member of Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department and retired from the Lily Mills as Vice President and general Manager. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Dale Ledbetter; one brother, Robert Grover Ledbetter. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Gladys Pheagin Ledbetter; one daughter, Alohma Ledbetter Falls and husband Bill of Kings Mountain; one sister, Ruby Wright of Shelby; four grandchildren, Jason Falls and wife Nancy of Kings Mountain, Natalie Pennington and husband Roy of Shelby, Andrea Navy and husband Sean of Grover, William Ledbetter, II and wife Christy of Germany; eight great-grandchildren, Angel Pennington, Brandon Pennington, Ashley Falls, Nicholas Falls, Matthew Navy, Emma, Sophia, and Liam Ledbetter. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, officiated by Dr. Steve Taylor and Rev. Jerome Cash. Ledford, Ted* - Lawndale  
PHOTO (FLAG/VET) TED LEDFORD LAWNDALE – Mr. Harold Ted Ledford, 80, of 177 Covington Road, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 5, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Cleveland County on Aug. 13, 1934, he was a son of the late Ralph Herbert Ledford and Margaret Inez Hoyle Ledford. A member of Lawndale Baptist Church, he served as a former deacon. Mr. Ledford retired as a supervisor with Cleveland Mills in Lawndale after forty-five years of service. He served in the US Army following his graduation. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Haley Ledford. Mr. Ledford is survived by his wife of sixty years, Ruby Oliver Ledford; sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Robin Ledford of Lawndale, Terry and Cindy Ledford of Nashville and Jamie Ledford of Lawndale and fiancee, Mary Jividen; sister, Barbara Ledford of Lawndale; grandchildren, Dustin Ledford and wife, Tiffany of Kings Mountain, Christin Chapman of Shelby, Jeremy Ledford and wife, Courtney of Nashville, Tennessee, Amber Ledford of Nashville, Tennessee, Drew Ledford and wife, Kaylee of Nashville, Tennessee and Hunter Ledford of Lawndale; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Jayden, Myla, Silas and Arianna; brothers-in-law and their wives, Henry and Shirley Oliver of Kings Mountain and Lawrence and Nell Oliver of Shelby, Jerry Oliver of Kings Mountain and David and Annie Oliver of Kings Mountain; and sisters-in-law, Clara Crawford and Evelene Thompson, both of Kings Mountain and Vickie Rice and Janette Oliver both of Shelby; and other mothers of his grandchildren, Donna Ledford and Barbie Sprouse.
