Partlow, Mary Lee* - Fort Walton Beach  
NO PHOTO MARY LEE PARTLOW Mary Lee Partlow, 58, of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, passed away Friday, Feb. 27, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Roberta Partlow and Richard Glover. Mary was born Oct. 14, 1956 in Shelby, NC. She graduated from Shelby High School in 1974 and received her BA from North Carolina A&T in 1978. While in school, her first regular job was working in the local pharmacy for Mr. Ron. After college she worked as a reporter for the Shelby Star. After a few years she moved out west and took a government position with the Social Service Administration and then the Air Force. She met her soul mate, Col. (Ret) Richard Michaud, while working in Public Affairs at Los Angeles Air Force Base. This was the start of a 30 year romance. As they moved to Washington DC, she worked as a technical editor/writer for the Coast Guard and private industry in Dayton, OH. She returned to North Carolina for a few years before spending her last 15 years on Okaloosa Island where she worked for the Air Force, AIC, Boeing and BAE. Along with motherhood, volunteering her talents were a passion. She was a 9 year member of the School Advisory Council, past president of the PTO and was president of the Emerald Coast USAF Academy Parents Club. She enjoyed watching sporting events and musical performances, especially when her sons were playing. Going to Parent's Weekend at the USAF Academy were her favorite activities in the last 2 years. Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Alberta; and brother, Ricky Glover. She is survived by her father, Richard; spouse, Richard; sons, Cadet Paul Michaud USAF Academy and Jerome J. Michaud; his children, Michelle Michaud and Anthony Michaud. She is also survived by siblings, Alberta Partlow, Marilyn Partlow, Diana Partlow, Cecil Partlow, Linda Wilson and Laray Leach-Glover; his grandchildren, Melissa Glenn and Daniel Coleman; special nieces, Miranda Partlow and Teyah Hopper; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members that she treated as brothers and sisters. Plager, Frankie* - Grover  
FRANKIE PLAGER Frankie Lee (Bird) Plager was born on July 3, 1931, in Grover, North Carolina, the fifth daughter of Cora and Benjamin Franklin Bird. After a brief illness, she died peacefully in Bloomington, Indiana, Feb. 23, 2015, at age 83. Frankie graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and married Sheldon Jay Plager in 1951. They raised 3 children while living in Gainesville, Florida, until 1963, then Urbana, Illinois, until 1977, and finally in Bloomington, Indiana. In 1980, after her divorce, Frankie was a Medical Social Worker at the Bloomington Hospital. Frankie greatly appreciated and supported the arts, attending plays, musical performances, and most especially attending Indiana Hoosier basketball games. She loved playing bridge with several groups. Her great sense of humor served her well, and she knew not to take herself too seriously. Her companionship will be greatly missed. She is pre-deceased by her parents Cora and Benjamin Bird; her sisters, Katherine Bird, Elizabeth Throop and Marjorie Ferguson. Frankie is survived by her 3 children, Anna Plager (Chris Nye) of Fairbanks, Alaska, David Plager (Martha Helveston) of Indianapolis, Indiana and Daniel Plager (Pam Mullins) of Tampa, Florida; and two grandchildren from each of her children, respectively, Ben and Amy Nye, Henry and Charles Plager, Samantha and Max Plager. Locally, she is survived by her sister Lenora Morris of Kings Mountain; nephew, Stephen Throop of Grover; niece Cynthia Throop Glidden (Scott) of Grover; and great niece Angharad Glidden Torres (Ben) of Kings Mountain. A ceremony will be held later in Grover, NC, where her ashes will be laid to rest. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenfuneralhome.org. Stroupe, Blanche* - Cherryville  
BLANCHE STROUPE CHERRYVILLE – Mrs. Blanche H. Stroupe, 93, formerly of S. Elm Street, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at Cleveland Pines in Shelby. Mrs. Stroupe was born in Cleveland County, NC on Jan. 29, 1922, a daughter of the late Wiley North Harrelson and Pearl Jane Harmon Harrelson. She worked as an inner line clerk for Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation for 18 years and also worked as a sales clerk for Belk Matthews in Cherryville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cherryville and the Wendy Scism Sunday School class. Mrs. Stroupe was also a longtime member of Cherryville Chapter #156 Order of the Eastern Star where she was a Past Worthy Matron and served as organist for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin C. Stroupe; two sisters; six brothers; and a stepson Don Stroupe. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bob Beam and Rexanne of Fallston; a stepson, Bengy Stroupe and wife Barbara of Cherryville; three stepdaughters, Patricia Whitaker and husband Ron of Cherryville, Dorothy Patrick and husband Carl of Shelby and Mary O'Malley of Marietta, SC; a grandson, Robert Michael Beam and wife Angela of Cherryville; two great grandchildren and also several step grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2015, at First Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Cherryville with Dr. Vince Hefner, Rev. David Day and Rev. Perry Holleman officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Fallston with Eastern Star graveside rites. Memorials may be to First Baptist Church, Christian Outreach Center, 301 E. First St. Cherryville, NC 28021. BILL LACKEY, JR. SHELBY- Mr. William Carter "Bill" Lackey, Jr., of 806 E. Graham St., Shelby, N.C., departed this life on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2015, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby. Born on Aug. 9, 1952, in Alexander County, N.C., he was the son of Ruth Daniels Lackey of Hiddenite, N.C., and the late William Carter Lackey, Sr. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m., Saturday, and at other times at the home. Funeral services have been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at 2 p.m., at Palmer Grove Baptist Church. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. Arrangements by Enloe Mortuary. Lamm, Clara-Jean*  
CLARA-JEAN LAMM Clara-Jean "Margie" Lamm, 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, surrounded by family. Margie was born Sept. 3, 1934, in Republic, WA, to Herbert and Sarah Foote. Margie moved to Fairfield, WA, where she was raised with her brother, Herbert Foote. She moved to Spokane, WA, where she met her wonderful husband of 60 years, Joseph Lamm, a member of the Air Force. They married Dec. 5, 1954, and then moved to Virginia, where Joe had grown up. She was employed with the American Red Cross, the Virginia school district and the book depository. Together they had four children and returned not long after to the state of Washington. Margie was an administrative assistant for over 35 years. Most of those years were spent working in the Central Valley School District in University high School and North Pines, and retired while working at the district office. Margie was an active member of her church at Opportunity Presbyterian Church in Spokane, WA, Lafayette St. United Methodist Church in Shelby, NC, and Church of the Nazarene in Ridgecrest, CA. She was an active member of the choir in these churches and played handbells while in North Carolina. Margie was heavily involved in the Order of the Eastern Star and served as a Grand Officer and as Worthy Matron several times in both Virginia and North Carolina. During her retirement she enjoyed quilting, scrapbooking and volunteering at the local grade school as a reader and proctor. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her grandkids, to whom she was affectionately known as Memaw. She always had a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face, one that will never be forgotten. She was preceded in death by her first-born son, her parents, her brother and one granddaughter. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Lamm, and three daughters, Elizabeth McCain of Ridgecrest, CA, Shirley McGlynn of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Cheryl Duncan of Blue Springs, MO. Also, Cecil Barrier, nephew, of Lawndale, NC, and niece Bonnie Lee of Oregon, Carolyn Finn of Savannah, GA, and James Lamm III of Lilburn, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
