MARIE NESTLERODE CHERRYVILLE-Marie Mauney Nestlerode, age 89, of Harrilson Road, died April 22, 2015, at her residence. Marie was born July 21, 1925, in Gaston County, a daughter of the late Floyd Lee and Lula Beam Mauney. The family will receive friends from 2 until 2:45 p.m., in the Family Life Center at the church prior to the service, and other times at 108 Woodvale Drive, Cherryville. Nolen Jr., William* - Shelby  
WILLIAM NOLEN JR. SHELBY- M SGT. William S. Nolen, Jr., 77, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Kings Mountain Hospice. He was from Belmont but always called Mt. Holly home. He worked all his life up to the age of 77, when he developed lung cancer which ended his life. He went into the United States Army at age 16 where he became a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. He served his country with pride for 22 years and retired in 1976 as a Master Sergeant E-8. He had several companies after his retirement, but the one he was most proud of was Norfolk/Southern Railroad, he had 13 great years delivering parts all over the east coast. In addition to his parents, William and Vernie Cloninger Nolen, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Glenda and Dorothy. He is survived by a loving and caring wife of 39 years, Peggy Booth Nolen in whom he adored and loved being married too; one daughter, Amanda Burgess and husband Shane, one grandson, Christopher Nolen and one granddaughter, Vallie Ann Dazis. Services were private and the Rev. Alan Davis and Rev. Fain Farmer officiated. Burial was at Hillcrest Gardens in Mt. Holly. Arrangements by Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby. Peace, Terry* - Kings Mountain  
FAYETTEVILLE- Terry Lynn Peace, 59, of 237 Decutur Drive, Fayetteville, formerly of Casar, passed away Thursday, April 23 at Cape Fear Medical Center in Fayetteville. Born in Los Angeles County, Cali., on July 29, 1955, she was a daughter of Glenn Arkin Short and Bessie May Thompson Short of Casar. Mrs. Peace was the secretary for the chaplains office at Fort Bragg and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Casar. She is preceded in death by her brother, Ricky Short; and grandparents, Edna Towle and Ruffin and Effie Short. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a son, Mathew Peace of Gainesville, Ga.; fiancé, Mark Wilkerson of Fayetteville; brother, John Short and wife, Susie of Shelby; sisters, Nancy Short of Shelby and Susan Short Williams of Casar; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2- 3:30 p.m., at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Casar. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., at the church and officiated by Rev. Jamie Bridges and Rev. Sam Snyder. Burial will be Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Inc. is serving the family.

Poole, Walter* - Shelby  
WALTER POOLE SHELBY- Walter Poole, 70, died Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at his home. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Howard and Aileen Willis Poole. Walter served in the Army during the Vietnam War, and was a member of New Bethel Church of Shelby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Poole; and sister, Joyce Krumnow. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Phyllis Smith Poole, of the home; son, Craig Poole of Shelby; daughter, Angie Poole of Ellenboro; sisters, Rita Barr and husband Bobby of Shelby, and Vickie Bingham and husband Dennis of Fallston; grandson, Tyler Turner of Shelby; brother-in-law, Bobby Smith and wife Joyce of Shelby; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the church. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, at New Bethel Church of Shelby, with the Rev. Mark Patchett officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery with military honor's. Memorials may be made to New Bethel Church of Shelby, 706 Hamrick St., Shelby, NC 28150. ELLEN PRUETT CASAR- Fearn Ellen Lee Pruett, 59, of 1446 Casar-Lawndale Road, Casar, died Tuesday, April 21, 2015. Born Oct. 29, 1955, in Cleveland County, she was daughter of L.B. Lee and the late Mary Louise Turner Lee. She was a homemaker. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by a son, Donald L.B. Pruett and a brother, Roy Lee. Survivors include her father, L.B. Lee; husband of 31 years, David Milton Pruett; two sons, George Lee and fiancee, Carmen Fernanders of Gastonia and Doug Pruett and wife, Tiffaney of Casar; daughter, Paige Pruett and fiancé, Brandon Weatherford of Casar; three brothers, Jack Lee, L.B. "Bones" Lee and Timmy Lee all of Shelby; two sisters, Faye Bridges of Cherryville and Sybil Craine of Asheville and four grandchildren. LLOYD RANDALL LAWNDALE- Lloyd Franklin Randall, 84, of 117 Big Hill Road, Lawndale, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015, at Carolinas HealthCare System-Lincoln. Born Dec. 16, 1930, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late James Alfred Randall and Hattie Pruett Randall. He was a retired finisher for Drexel Heritage Furniture.
