Ann Hamrick

SHELBY- Ann Parker Hamrick, 95, was born May 6, 1917, in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina. She grew up in Asheville, where she later met L.T. Hamrick, a Vanderbilt law student, who became the love of her life. Following law school graduation in 1936, they moved to Shelby which happily became their home for the rest of their lives.
Shortly after arriving in Shelby, First Baptist Church became Ann's foundation and remained so, even through the television ministry, for the last years of her life. Gardner Webb University also played an important part in her life for many years, where she participated in and supported many of the University's enterprises and activities and loved being a loyal fan of the Bulldog Club.
Ann traveled much of the world with her beloved husband but always looked forward to returning home and to their home-away-from-home at Lake Lure where they enjoyed entertaining friends and family for many years.
Ann is survived by two daughters, Maxine H. Kennedy, and husband, Michael of Shelby; Elizabeth H. Dulaney of Charlotte; one brother, John Parker and wife, June of Asheville,; one sister, Bonnie P. Towe of Weaverville; two grandsons, Scott Kennedy, and wife, Anne, of Shelby; David Kennedy, and wife, Danielle, of Greenville, N.C. and four great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Davis Kennedy of Shelby, and Patrick and Edward Kennedy of Greenville, N.C.
The family sincerely thanks the staff for the loving care Ann received while a resident at Sterling House for the last eight years, and more recently at Hospice Kings Mountain and White Oak Manor in Shelby.
