Annie Christine Ward

HICKORY- Mrs. Christine Church Ward, 89, of Hickory, went into the arms of Jesus peacefully on Saturday April 26, 2014 at Carolina Rehab of Burke, after a period of declining health.
Mrs. Ward was born Oct. 3, 1924, in Burke County, a daughter of the late Clyde Mathis Church, Sr. and Guylar Mae Hart Church. She was a faithful member of Warlicks Baptist Church and retired from the textile industry as a seamstress. She enjoyed outings with the LLL Club (senior citizens) of the Church.
In additional to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Beverly "Bill" Ward, a son Clyde Dale Ward, a sister, Ruby C. Deal, a brother, Clyde Church, Jr. and a step-grandson, Daniel "Danny" Grindstaff.
Surviving are her two daughters, Linda Ward Cook Grindstaff and husband Larry of Rhodhiss, Beverly Ann Ward Teague and husband James of Baton, a sister, Leona Church Brown of Connelly Springs, a brother, Lewis Church of Longview. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Thomas Larry "Tommy" Cook, Jr., David Keith Cook, Lisa Cook Queen, step grandchild, Terri Leigh Grindstaff, step great-grandchild, Brandi Grindstaff, , step-grandchildren, Paula Grindstaff Adkins, Cheryl Lucenda Morray Aldridge, step-great-grandchildren, Breanna Dawn Morray, Brook Lee Aldridge and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Christine Ward will be held at 3 p.m. Monday April 28, 2014, at Warlicks Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Murry officiating. Interment will follow in the Hart Family Cemetery, Longview.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m.. until 3 p.m. Monday at Warlicks Baptist Church.
