Anthony Mitchell

BOILING SPRINGS - Anthony Kyle "Snoop" Mitchell, 28, of 2962 Old Cliffside Road, completed his earthly journey on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Carolinas Continued Care in Kings Mountain. He was born on July 9, 1985, in Cleveland County, to Thomas Pettway and the late Carla Lynn Surratt.
"Snoop," as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was a 2003 graduate of Crest High School where he was an outstanding defensive lineman for the Chargers from 1999-2003. Snoop was a member of Green Bethel Baptist Church where he joined at an early age.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Odell Mitchell; and his paternal grandfather, Mose Pettway.
Left to cherish his memory are his maternal grandmother, Eula Mitchell of the home; his father, Thomas Pettway (Lawanda) of Charlotte; four brothers, Tyrone Surratt and Ryan Hillman, both of Shelby, Jordan Wray of South Korea and Joshua William Pettway of Charlotte; two sisters, Carmen Danielle Pettway and Jasmine Pettway, both of Charlotte; paternal grandmother, Idell Pettway of Fort Mill, S.C.; two aunts, Maxine Mitchell of Shelby and Valerie Forney (Nathan) of Fort Mill, S.C.; five uncles, Demps Pettway of Charlotte, Mose Pettway (Volda) of Tenn., Jeffrey Mitchell of Ellenboro, Quinn Boyce (Crystal) of Boiling Springs and Rashawn Lowe of Md.; special friends, A.J. Rice and Keenan Little, both of Boiling Springs; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church, and at other times at the home of his aunt, Maxine Mitchell, 151 Ridgewood Street in Shelby.
Funeral service: 3 p.m. Wednesday at Green Bethel Baptist Church
Officiated by: The Rev. Wade Wallace
Burial: Will take place at Sunset Cemetery
Funeral home: Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
