Carlos Lamont McSwain was born October 22, 1982 to Samantha McSwain Stith and the late Kelvin Robbs in Cleveland County, NC. He passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 in Los Angeles, Calif.
Carlos was educated in the Cleveland County Schools system until his mother's acting career flourished and afforded her the opportunity to travel and tour with various stage plays and tours. Although she was pursuing her career, she ensured that Carlos was still obtaining the necessary education through a homeschool program headquartered in Greenville, SC.
Carlos loved music and at a very early age learned to play the drums. At an early age, Carlos played in different churches, quartet and other musical groups and stage plays. At the age of 8 years old, he was hired as the drummer with the touring stage production of "A Good Man is Hard to Find" with the late David Payton. He had the privilege to work with such artists as Aaliyah, Michael Jackson, Blackstreet, Usher, Tamar Braxton, Kelly Price, John P Kee, Snoop, and numerous other artists. He was also a beloved member of the band 1500orNothing.
Carlos was preceded in death by his father Kelvin Robbs; his maternal grandparents Mr. Carl and Mrs. Mildred Twitty McSwain and grandmother Catherine J. Jones.
Carlos leaves to cherish his fond memories: his parents, Kenneth L. and Samantha M. Stith, Hopewell, Va; his daughter, Zareha Carlece McSwain, Mount Holly, NC; brother, Tyronn Wilkins, Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Sumoria N. McSwain, Shelby, NC; aunt, Cathy O. Vinson (Richard), Shelby, NC; uncle, Darryl E. McSwain, Lillington, NC; grandmother, Lessie McSwain, Shelby, NC; grandfather, Linwood Jones, Petersburg, Va.; surrogate grandparents, Bishop John and Missionary Dianne McCluney, Shelby, NC; godmother, Pamela Harrison, Rutherfordton, NC; special friends, Monique Neal, Portland, Ore. and Christopher "Brody" Brown, Los Angeles, Calif.; a host of other relatives and friends; and the Music Industry of which he served faithfully and left his legacy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Malcom Brown Auditorium with Bishop Dongrant McCluney, PhD officiating. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Saturday and at other times at the home of John and Dianne McCluney, 1222 Masonic Drive, Shelby. My dear Friend Carlos, a beacon of light, full of magnetic energy, dripping, oozing, loaded with God given talent! What a tremendous and humble Man! Carlos taught me a lot on tour and made sure I was safe, and knowledgeable about the road! He respected realness and Southern hospitality! Also the love he had for his Mom and daughter was overflowing and beautiful! I miss you is an understatement Carlos! Thank you Heavenly Father for allowing Los in my life. I will cherish the memories of my close true friend!
