Charles Propst

SHELBY - Charles Gerald Propst, 83, of 3541 Fallston Road, died June 26, 2014, at home. He was born on Dec. 9, 1930, to the late Tom Propst and Bessie Ledford Propst. He was retired from Lithium Corporation and FMC Technology, where he served as accounting supervisor. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Fallston Masonic Lodge, Oasis Shriners, and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, J.C. Propst, Alvin Propst, Fred Propst, and Cecil Propst; sisters, Selma Brackett and Ponese Propst.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Frances Costner Propst; daughter, Susan Propst Johnson and husband Paul of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Annie Ruth Carpenter of Lawndale; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their thanks to Hospice Cleveland County for all their help.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Stamey Funeral Home.
Funeral service: 2 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church; the body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Officiated by: The Revs. Jimmy Black and Joe Edwards
Burial: Will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites by Fallston Masonic Lodge.
