CASAR - John Colon Propst, 84, of 116 Lanark Drive, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at his home. He was born in Cleveland County on Nov. 24, 1929, to the late Dorsey Propst and Elvena Walker Propst.
He was retired from Drexel Heritage after 43 years and was a member of Olive Grove Baptist Church, where he was a deacon for 50 years. He loved to watch NASCAR and loved working in the garden, on cars and lawnmowers. He was a do-it-yourselfer.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Frances Parker Propst; and two brothers, Luico and J.B. Propst.
He is survived by his son, Mitchell Propst and wife Naomi of Casar; daughter, Diane McCauley and husband Steve of Casar; four grandchildren, Jonathan Propst, Joshua Propst and wife Stephanie, Jason
Duty and Celeste McCauley; five great-grandchildren, Jacob Propst, Alanna Propst, Kristin Propst, Zachary Propst and Elijah Propst; brother, L.D. Propst of Fallston; and sister, Ruth Smart of Connelly Springs.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Stamey Funeral Home.
Funeral service: 2 p.m. Saturday at Olive Grove Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.

Burial: Will follow in the church cemetery.
