Edwin Brooks

MOORESBORO-James Edwin Brooks, 79, of Mooresboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 9,2013, at his residence.
A native of Cleveland County, he was born Dec. 18, 1933, a son of the late Grady Buren and Dorothy Edna Greene Brooks.
He was retired from Gardner Electric after 30 years of service. He was a member of Race Path Baptist Church. He was also a founding member of the Ellenboro Fire Department serving over 40 years, served on the Board of Directors for the Ellenboro Fire Department for over 30 years and was the former fire chief.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Toney Brooks; one son, Danny Brooks and wife Kathy of Mooresboro; one daughter, Lynn Hoppes and husband Shannon of Ellenboro; one brother, Grady Brooks and wife Cindy of Ellenboro; four grandchildren, Ashely Brooks, Casey Brooks, Matthew McDaniel, Brooke McDaniel; three step-grandchildren, Christy Jordan, Travis Reep, Keltize Hoppes; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service.
Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Sunday at Race Path Baptist Church
Officiated By: The Rev. Randall Cooper, the Rev. John Godfrey, and the Rev Lance Scarlette
Burial: Church cemetery
