SHELBY-Mrs. Elizabeth Livsey Morgan, 84, of 607 Carlos Street, Shelby, departed this life on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby. She was born on Feb. 22, 1928, in Cherokee County, S.C., and was the youngest daughter of the late Fate and Cammie Edward Livsey. She was a wife, mother and homemaker and was known for her pineapple cakes.
Mrs. Morgan attended Camp High School as a child and later went back to school where she received her diploma at age 65 from Cleveland Community College.
Elizabeth Morgan joined First Baptist Church of Earl at an early age. She later joined Shoal Creek Baptist Church under Christian experience. While at Shoal Creek, she was president of the Missionary Circle # 3 for 25 years and the Burial Aid Society for many years. After retirement from Hoechst Celanese, she returned to First Baptist Church of Earl and continued her missionary work for God. While there, she made immeasurable contributions to the services and ministries. She was very instrumental in the growth of the church and laid the ground work for their present senior ministry and was the first recipient of the Elizabeth Morgan Award. In addition, Mrs. Morgan was a member of the Eastern Star Heroines of Jericho Tryon Court #3 for 65 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Mac Daniel Morgan Sr.; two children, Charlene Ross and Kenneth Wayne Morgan; three sisters, Moena Miller, Lovie Feaster and Julia John; and five brothers, O.T. Livsey Sr., Alex Livsey, Sylvester Livsey, Rev. Fate Livsey and J.D. Livsey.
Left to cherish fond memories of her are her children, Doris J. Hopper (James), Mac Daniel Morgan Jr., both of Shelby, Winfred Andrew Morgan (Darlene) of Grover, Janice Morgan of the home, Andrew Morgan of Shelby and Shana Morgan of Cherryville; her grandchildren, Derrick Hopper (Emma) of Aikens, S.C., Tammy Hopper (Carl) of Shelby, Stewart Morgan of Salisbury, Melissa Gist (Lovell) of Kings Mountain, Tyree Morgan of Grover, Ronisha Parks of Allendale, S.C., Sade Butler (Joe) of Columbia, S.C., Kaysha Ross of Columbia, S.C., Brianna Morgan of the home, Santerius Allen Alvin Card Jr. of Cherryville and Adria Morgan and Mariah Morgan, both of Shelby; three sisters-in-law, Rose Morgan of Charlotte, Helen Woods of Shelby and Serphe Livsey of Gaffney, S.C.; a former daughter-in-law whom she remained close to, Yvonnia Morgan of Shelby; a ""special daughter"", Sally Leach of Shelby; a special niece who was like a sister to her, Bernice West of Gaffney, S.C.; and a host of additional nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the church on Friday and also from 5 to 7 p.m. at Enloe Mortuary on Thursday.
