SHELBY- Ernest Lee Wilson, Sr., 86, of 1013 Toms Street, departed this life on Friday, March 21, 2014, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby. He was born on Oct. 28, 1927, in Cleveland County.
Wilson was a U.S. Army
veteran. He was a longtime member of Roberts Tabernacle C.M.E. Church, where he was a member of the men's choir, a steward and a trustee. He was a retired employee of Universal Manufacturing where he was employed for over 25 years. His pastimes included fishing, watching sports and gardening.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother Andrew and Rachel Clinton Wilson; his wife, Cornelia Black Wilson; a son, Ernest Wilson, Jr.; four brothers, Jack Wilson, Gene Wilson, G.W. "Dub" Wilson and Johnny Wilson; and two sisters Ruth Wilson and Dorothy Wilson.
He leaves to cherish his memory; five daughters, Evangelist Marie Ross (Rev. Luther Ross) of Charlotte, Gloria W. Mims and Carnelle Smith (Jerry) both of Shelby, Rachel Bullard (James) of Gastonia and Darnell Perry (Roscoe) of Shelby; a daughter-in-law, Avaughn Wilson of Shelby; a sister, Anna Mae Wilson of Providence, R.I.; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; special friends, Alan Eaves of Shelby, Jether Funderburke of Charlotte, the men of Roberts Tabernacle C.M.E. Church and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitations: The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.
Funeral Services: 3 p.m. Wednesday at Roberts Tabernacle C.M.E. Church

Burial: Will take place at Webb Memorial Lawns.
