CHERRYVILLE-Mrs. Eula Elizabeth Roberts Elliott, 91 passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Carolina Care Center in Cherryville.
She was born on April 20, 1921, in Cleveland County, and was the first child born to Maude Roberts Littlejohn and Thomas Wilson.
Mrs. Elliott joined Green Bethel Baptist Church at an early age where she served as a Sunday school teacher for the youth, worked on the kitchen committee, and was a member of the Green Bethel Missionary Society. In the early 1980's, she retired from Crest Middle School cafeteria and Dr. Eugene Washburn.
Mrs. Elliott was known for her passion for cooking and gardening. She also enjoyed quilting in her later years, making jewelry and giving it to her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Maude R. Littlejohn; father, Thomas Wilson; her husband, Thamer James "Bus" Elliott; sisters, Virginia L. Watterson, Willie Sue Thomas and Girdie H. Little; and brother, Withrow Wilson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Thamer James Elliott Jr. (Frances) of Morganton, Eloise Wilson (William) of Waco, and William Bill Bridges of Shelby; a sister, Cora Brantley of Shelby; special sister-in-law and daughter-in-law, Lucille Elliott of Mooresboro, and Betty Harper of Waco; grandchildren, Lisa Waltkins (Marvin) of Gaffney, S.C., Sherrye Elliott of Shelby, Dwayne V. Elliott (Shellian) of Nashville, Tenn., William Wilson Jr. of Shelby, Sandra Dunlap (Cleroy) of Gastonia, and William Bridges Jr. (Patricia) of Kings Mountain; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church, and at other times at the home of her granddaughter, Sherrye Elliott at 907 North Lafayette Street in Shelby.
Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Green Bethel Baptist Church
Officiated By: The Rev. Wade Wallace; the Rev. E.D. Brantley will deliver the eulogy.
Burial: Will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park
