SHELBY - Franklin Delano Culbreth, 77, of 325 Woodside Drive, received his wings and took flight on Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, he was born on Oct. 8, 1936, to the late Andrew and Gertrude Tory Culbreth.
Frank was a graduate of Cleveland High School. He was also an U.S. Army
veteran serving his country for two years. Frank went on to further his education at Gardner-Webb University receiving a degree in Religion. He was self-employed as a carpet layer for many years. In addition, he was a member of New Life Christian Church.
He was married for 51 years to his wife the late Margaret Ann Oderson Culbreth who preceded him in death in 2007.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother and two sisters.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter and caregiver, Rita Culbreth Haynes of the home; his sisters, Josephine Degraca of Canton, Ga., Bonnie Stevenson (Louis) and Shirley Woods, both of Providence, R.I.; a brother, William Culbreth of Shelby; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Rogers A. Foster of Virginia; special friends, Rev Walter Wilson (Crystal) and David Webber (Beatrice); special cousins, Joseph Chambers (Anita), George Howell (Cathy) and Martha London Barrow and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service, and at other times at the home.
Funeral service: 2:30 p.m. Saturday at New Life Christian Church

Burial: Will take place at Sunset Cemetery.
