Fred Cook

NEWTON- Fred Cook, 93, of 1226 Shannonbrook Drive, Newton, died Monday, July 29, 2013, at Abernethy Laurels in Newton.
Born November 27, 1919, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Marshall Marion Cook and Minnie Mae Tallent Cook. He was retired from Century Furniture as a machine operator and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Melmer Hoyle Cook; two brothers, Ed and Reid Cook and two sisters, Annie Lail and Lela Houser.
Survivors include a son, Everette "Sonny" Cook and wife, Sandy of Newton; two daughters, Millie Drum of Longview and Hazel Bean of Mountain View; five grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jessie Cook of Hickory and Joe Cullen Cook of Lawndale; and four sisters, Dorothy Cook of Shelby, Evelyn Townsend of Vale, Junie Rhoney of Vale and Bessie Bumgardner of Lenoir.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston
Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Beulah Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service.

Burial: St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery, Casar
