Isabelle Miller

MONROE- Isabelle Banner Miller completed a life well-lived on Monday, May 6, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation of Monroe.
She was born June 12, 1925, to the late Clarence Barrino and Cora Lee Cuthbertson in Monroe. Responsibilities fell heavily on the only girl in the family. Isabelle graduated from a high school that only went as far as the 12th grade.
Isabelle was married to the late Robert Dexter Miller and to this union three children were born. She worked as a domestic for many years before being employed by Belk Brothers #1 in Monroe. She retired from Belk after more than 27 years of service. She received many awards for being the top seller in the men's, children's, and house wares department.
Until she became ill, Isabelle was an active member of the Mount Calvary A.M.E. Zion Church. She faithfully served as treasurer of the usher board and sponsor of the junior usher board.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Annie Bell Miller Ashburg; and three brothers, John C. Barrino, Roy Barrino, and William (Bill) Barrino.
She leaves to cherish fond memories, one son, Robert L. Miller of Shelby; and one daughter, Frances J. Miller of Monroe; one son-in-law, Calvin Ashburg of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandsons, Dr. R. Chris Miller (Claudia) of Greensboro, Dexter E. Miller of Greensboro, Michon Ashburg (Curtique) of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Michael Ashburg (Teena) of Lithonia, Ga.; five great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, friends; and a special friend, Nancy Gaither.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Calvary A.M.E. Zion Church, 800 Lasalle Street, Monroe.
Funeral Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at Mount Calvary A.M.E. Zion Church
