Jean Edmonson

SHELBY - Laura Jean Blair Edmondson, 60, of Shelby, completed her courageous 31 year battle with cancer on May 13, 2014, in her home, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Asheville on Oct. 22, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Hal and Christine Blair of Asheville.
A 1972 graduate of Enka High School, she spent many years as an administrative assistant for both the Cleveland and Gaston County school systems. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and admiring the beauty of God's creation from the comfort of her back porch. Above all, she loved to spend time with her family and having them near was the greatest joy of her life.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth Faulkner and Halbert Blair, Jr.; and her niece, Bethany Rae Blair.
She is survived by her beloved husband, James Edmondson; her sons and daughters-in-law, Josh and Kirsten Turner of Chesapeake, Va., and Jake and Sally Turner of Shelby; and her daughter Anna Gibbs, also of Shelby. She was also the proud grandmother of Aly, Jackson, Grayson, Dixon and Mason Turner. Jean also leaves behind three brothers, Gary Blair and Dean Blair of Asheville and Bill Blair of Mechanicsville, Va.; and her sister, Debbie Stallings of Charlotte.
