Joe Cleamon Allen(2011)

SHELBY-Joe Cleamon Allen, 78, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011.
He was a native of Stanly County and the son, of the late Julian and Edna Allen of Concord. Mr. Allen was a retired professor of Gardner Webb University and various schools throughout the North Carolina School system. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1954 – 1958. He was a member of the American Legion Post 82. Mr. Allen was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Frank Garver Sunday school class who will serve as honorary pall bearers.
Mr. Allen is survived by his loving wife, of 51 years, Barbara Irvin Allen; two sons, Jeff Allen and wife Amy of Shelby, Chris Allen and wife Becky of Shelby; a brother Charles Allen; a sister Jean McGraw; and six grandchildren, Tyler, Brittany, Matthew, Caitlin, Alexandra, and Chance; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the church other times the family will be at the home of Chris and Becky Allen, 1308 Moonshadow Lane in Shelby
Celebration of Life Service: 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Webb Chapel of First Baptist Church

Burial: Cleveland Memorial Park with Military rites
