SHELBY-- John Wesley Atkins, 64, of 107 Camden Court, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at Kings Mountain Hospice House.
Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Rachel Katherine Melton Atkins, and was the son of the late Ralph Atkins and Lela Coyle Atkins. Mr. Atkins retired from the heating and air conditioning business and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Kevin Daniel McMurry and Michael Lee McMurry and wife, Kristy, all of Shelby; a daughter, Amy Danielle Boulanger and husband, Leon, of Kings Mountain; a brother, James Ralph Atkins and wife, Cecilia, of Seneca, S.C.; four grandchildren, Haley Woods and husband Naykevious, Jonathan Self, Lynden Boulanger, and Lindzey Boulanger; and a great-grandchild, Naykevious Woods, II.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Dean Atkins.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Blakely Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the residence, 107 Camden Court, Shelby.
