Joyce Luckadoo

MOORESBORO - Joyce Lancaster Luckadoo, 89, of McKinney Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Hospice at Wendover, Shelby. She was a native of Rutherford County, a daughter of the late Burl Lancaster and Bertha Harris Lancaster, and the widow of the late Boyd Luckadoo.
Mrs. Luckadoo was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School in the primary department for over fifty years and was a sanctuary choir member. She was also very active with G.A.'s and Bible School.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Dobbins; her sisters, Ruth Beard and Mary Jolley; and her son-in-law, Dean Dobbins.
Survivors include her son, Gerald Luckadoo and wife Shirley of Salisbury; a daughter, Gail L. Dobbins of Mooresboro; a sister, Melrose L. Waters of Henrietta; three grandsons, Jeff Luckadoo and wife Stephanie, Jon Luckadoo and wife Kandee, and Joe Luckadoo and wife Heather; granddaughter-in-law, Keri Bryant; and six great-grandchildren, Andy Dobbins, Luke Luckadoo, Garrett Luckadoo, Lauren Luckadoo, Kaitlyn Luckadoo, and Jonathon Canterbury.
Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary of the church. At other times, the family will be at the home of the daughter, McKinney Road, Mooresboro.
Funeral service: 3 p.m. Friday in the Trinity Baptist Church
Officiated by: The Rev. Mike Frazier and Dr. Shirley Luckadoo
Interment: Will follow in the church cemetery
