CONNELLY SPRINGS - Lula Smith Huffman, 89, of Connelly Springs, went to her Heavenly Home on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at her residence, after a period of declining health.
Mrs. Huffman was born Nov. 11, 1924, in Cleveland County, a daughter of the late Turley and Ella Mae Millon Smith. She was retired from Valdese Manufacturing and a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Connelly Springs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Gib" Huffman, Sr.; brothers, James, Tom, and Robert Lee Smith; sisters, Elizabeth Davis and Betty Strange; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Huffman; granddaughter, Sandy Bobo; and great-grandchild, Stephanie Abernathy.
Surviving are her children, Charles Huffman, Jr., and wife Jean of Connelly Springs, Lester Huffman and wife Freda of Rocky Point, Dennis Huffman and wife Jane of Connelly Springs, Christine Van Horn and husband Glenn of Connelly Springs and Delight Van Horn and husband Dean of Connelly Springs; 19 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Lucille Barns (Bud) of Valdese, Carolyn Wright (Herbert), Norma Gediest and Clara Smith, all of Falston, and Helen Swink and Lillian Bryant, both of Shelby; sisters-in-law, Francis Smith of Drexel and Kay Smith of Salisbury; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brian and Randall Van Horn, Darrell, Jonathan, Lester, Dennis Huffman, Jr. and Josh Ulrich.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.
Funeral service: 2 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese

Interment: Will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery
